Mike’s Hard Work Pays Off

Mike has spent, hours, and I mean hours – probably 40 of them, over the past couple of weeks, trying to get this 50 year old train to run.  Finally, his persistence paid off (and probably my prayers for him helped to!)  So, this Christmas, we have an electric TRAIN!

The last of my American Flags is now sold.   I am now finished making those flags.  I am so glad!  Sometimes, it is just nice to move on with my creativity!

An finally, a Poinsettia Table Runner.  I made two and sold both of them at the Tree-For-All last weekend.  I also sold two of the Kokopelli table runners last weekend too.  At the three craft shows I did this Christmas Season, I sold a total of 12 runners.  So, they do sell well!  Now, I just need to find the right fabric for future runners!  I don’t have a picture of them, but I will be making additional runners for next summer’s Farmers Market.

That is it for now….

Pioneer Braid Quilt

Last month the Grayson Country Quilters had a retreat - aka Quilt-a-thon. We had two classes that were taught. The first was a Pioneer Braid by Norma Madden. The quilt is a scrappy quilt - my favorite type - and it went together very quickly! ( I love quick quilts).

I finished the quilt about a week after the Quilt-a-thon and then took it up to Jeri Montella's. She had it done in two days. I picked it up last Saturday and then bound it on Monday and Tuesday. I've been using it every since! I love the quilt!!!

Homecoming Parade

This week has been Homecoming Week at San Juan High.  Todays' event was the Homecoming Parade.  It makes me laugh and at the same time, it is one of the reasons I enjoy living in Blanding so much!
Parades are big business here in Blanding. I had to laugh because both the Blanding City police and Utah Highway Patrol were at each intersection of the parade route, blocking traffic and making sure people were not driving along the parade route.  People coming through town had to make a ‘detour’!

Custom Quilts

This summer I have made two custom quilts.  The first was for Felicia in New Hampshire.  She was born on the 4th of July and loves anything Americana…

The second quilt was for Hanan in California.  She dropped by Farmers Market in the early summer, saw some of my quilt tops and wanted me to make a quilt for her.  Her quilt included a pillow tuck.  This was my first Lone Star and honestly, I think it is one of the easiest quilts to make!

My Hard Working Husband

Mike has spent DAYS, probably 8-10 so far, and probably 5-6 hours at a time, digging up this soil by hand so that we can plant grass on the east side of the house.  We have patches of grass, that have grown intermittently when we planted the last two years.  The saying states, “Third Time is the Charm?”  We are hoping so!

Don’t you love the hat?  We bought it last week while we were on vacation.  I wish we would have bought me a hat too!

If you’d like to pray for our grass to grow.  We’d both appreciate it!

A New Quilt

I finished my “Challenge” quilt this week.  The Grayson Country Quilters had a ‘Challenge’ quilt that members have been working on the past eight months.    I finished mine up early, after I found the right backing for this quilt.

It’s now on display at the Blanding Visitors Center.  (Don’t be impressed.  Lots of quilts are displayed their for a couple of months, from the second story loft.  I’ve had other quilt there as well.)

Our Utah Vacation!

Mike and I went on a little Utah Vacation.  We drove Highway 95 over to Richfield, went to Fish Lake, met my parents in Price for lunch, and returned home.  We were gone six days!

You can’t tell from this photo, but I was the ‘skipper’ of this trip.  I drove the boat the entire time and LOVED IT!  (Once again, a dream/desire fulfilled!)  I want to drive again!

Thursday, Mike and I drove to Price.  We went shopping at Walmart, went to the library to check email, took a nap, went out Thursday evening to a free concert at the Peace Park.  We had such a nice evening.  On Friday, we met my parents in Price for lunch.  It was great.  I wanted a picture, but of course, the battery was low, thus no picture.  We ate at Groggs.  The food is wonderful and I am already ready for a return trip!
