Have I Done Any Good...

Here's your opportunity to do a little good in the world today...

This young woman is working on there thesis about blogging. No, I do not know her, but for some reason, I felt compelled to help her with her thesis. I know how it is doing research. Been there, done that. I also know how important it is to finish school.

So, do a little good in the world today and answer her questions. It will probably take 30 minutes of your time, but you will have 'helped someone in need'!

Sidney's Socks

I know, this is not the most brilliant post, but it is me. I cannot stand to have cold feet and as a result, I walk around my home in socks all winter. When I head for bed, I have to have a pair of socks on, because if my feet are cold, I don't sleep.

Sometime during the night, the socks come off. There is no rhyme or reason. The socks are 'carefully' (ya, right!) moved by my toes out and end up on the floor of our bedroom. (If they stay in the bed, then I 'feel' the socks and they are lumpy OR I 'lose' socks for days/weeks at a time. It is just much easier to get them on the floor.) Often there is a pile of socks on our floor, which Mike has just come to ignore. For me, it is who I am.

Painting...

I decided to redo my bathroom a few weeks ago. I've been looking for the right accessories, etc., to create my bathroom 'vision'. This morning I arose at 5:00am and began the painting process. I was done in a couple of hours and had the bathroom back together before noon. It was so nice.

The only 'surprise' with this redo was the MIRROR. I purchased a mirror and when I took down the old one, I found a large (36 x 28) whole in my wall where it looks like a medicine cabinet should go. So, I'm still looking for a brown wood framed mirror that will cover the hole that isn't $200 dollars. (I found a great one online at Home Depot.) (Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the hole!) So, the room isn't complete, but close!

Old paint color - sage with some sponge painting.

New paint color - a pale yellow/tan color that looks MUCH better
with the older styled tile in this bathroom. I can accessorize with color!
(See the red in the flowers. I need to add a little more red to the room!)

The finished produce, but I still need a splash of red on this wall.
Any suggestions?
I'm hoping that my friend Bethany will have a solution.
She has great ideas!!!

Our 7th Anniversary

March 8th was our seventh wedding anniversary. Mike and I have had seven very good years. We are still has happy and in love even more than when we married. We continue to have NO WEDGES between us. We work daily to make sure that we do not create or carry these wedges.

So, here's what we did to celebrate our wedding anniversary...

We cleaned our house.

We went biking.

Headed south for a overnight getaway.

On our drive south we went shopping.

We went on one of Mike nostalgia drives - Mike loves nostalgia - and drove around Orem, down through Provo, onto the Campus of Brigham Young University.

Alma Mater... GOOOOOOOOOO COUGARS!

Looked for the Knight-Mangum Building aka Language Training Mission, where Mike spent the first 13 weeks of his mission learning the Spanish Language prior to leaving for Argentina.

Oops! The Knight Mangum Hall is no longer.
Now, it is just a grassy area.
Another building bites the dust.
We continued our journey to Springville, thinking that there had to be a
mom and pop hotel in the town. NOT!

We then headed to Spanish Fork, looking for a motel and a place to eat.
Spanish Fork doesn't have any mom and pop motels either.
We turned around and headed north to Provo. Surely there would be a place to eat and sleep!

We ate at the Chinese Buffet on University Avenue.

Ended up in at a nice little mom and pop motel in Provo.

On our way home, we ate at Arctic Circle.

Finally...

Mike and I went biking today on our 'new' bikes! We even wore helmets, although both of us would rather not, but Annette Knight 'convinced' me that it would be better than running into a deer without one. (Yes, this is what Annette said. You need to know that Annette is an avid rider!)

Mike with his refurbished bike.
He worked quite hard on getting it ready to ride.
My bike looks smaller with me on it but when we were riding around, a woman said to me, "I like your bike!" I responded, "Thanks, it is my first time riding it!" I knew this PINK bike was a winner! (I still need to purchase my basket...)
We rode at Sugarhouse park on the flat areas around the pond. Finally, we decided to ride all the way around the park. We did. It was a lot of work because neither of us could cycle up the hills, but it was worth it. We'll just continue to build up those thigh muscles! We had fun riding our bikes and look forward to more rides in the future.
(Okay, I can't believe I have two posts on the same day. We don't usually have this much excitement in our lives!)

Fabric Scraps

I have lots and lots of fabric scraps. In my quest to 'declutter' my home again - this time in the sewing area - I needed to do something with all of the scraps. (I feel guilty throwing good fabric away. ) I spent hours and hours making four patch square into 16 patch square. TOO MUCH TIME!
Over the weekend, I decided to take the strips of fabric and just sew them together, grouping by colors.
I actually had enough strips to make a twin sized quilt top! I have some fabric that I can use as a backing. After quilting it, I think I'll donate it. After sewing all the strips together, I actually think it looks okay. Someone will like this quilt for their bed, I"m sure.
I will finish the 16 patch quilt, but it will be a combination of all the patches that I currently have created. Some are 16, some are 4 (if I don't have enough to make 16). I am going to get this fabric USED UP and out of my home. Even a scrap quilt has usage when one needs to be warmed up!
